Models Own: Pray #SBBNailChallenge +Haul

Okay, so I didn't end up posting any earlier... also didn't fix the electrical problems. *ggrr* I did learn some things, though, explained the situation to my dad and we'll figure out the rest when he gets back home.

So. Starting off today we have two coats of Models Own Pray. A gorgeous chocolaty brown.

Applied smoothly, dried quickly. I love these chocolaty browns. hehehe

I decided that Pray would make a good contrasting, yet complimentary, base for today's #SBBNailChallenge is 54 - Something From Pinterest. I took my inspiration from this flowers on newspaper print pin and this simple flower burst pin. The result?

Ta-da! I used the tiny dried flowers I picked up from Sally's and Bundle Monster plate BM-616 with Models Own Chrome Pink for the stamping. The only bothersome part was that I couldn't use my normal stamper? For some reason it wouldn't transfer the middles of the images. So I used my much stiffer backup stamper and that worked much better. Even if I did have to press a lot harder to get the design all over and around the curves of my nails...

Nail mail time! hehehe I've been following @polishedpony on Instagram for a bit and when she mentioned that she was going to destash on Storenvy I had to check it out! It took me a little while to get some money together (Models Own sale and all), but I finally managed to snag some preciousses:

I got Orly Crossroads and Shine, KleanColor Sugar Factory, Sugar Cravings and Blind Date, Maybelline Diamond In The Rough, Hard Candy Fun N' Festive and Rocket Green. ^_^ I debated over that one for a long, long time because I'm kinda squinky about adding brands, but... zomg look at that green!! In the end I couldn't pass it up. You should check out her shop. She keeps adding stuff!! *dies*

Thanks to everything I'm no longer ahead on my swatching. lol Tomorrow I'm going to have Nabi Rainbow Effect L. Pink which is sheer so I need to dig out something to layer it over. Hopefully the weather will start clearing up... hrm... Y'all take care out there. (^_^)"/"

Julep: Colton & Björk +Metamorphic Topcoat Comparison

Still alive! Cold and tired, but alive. Working on replacing some of our outlets, hoping I can restore power to the north-east quadrant. Wish me luck! I'm learning new things every day.

Today we're starting with two coats of Julep Colton. A very deep, dark, eggplant purple.

It keeps being overcast... Here's a shot with the flash so you can actually see the color:

I had the hardest time with cleanup. lol Polish just kept melting out and getting on my fingers. Pretty awesome vampy purple, though. Great base for Björk!

The blue one. lol This is one coat of Björk over Colton. And now for the Metamorphic Topcoat rundown!

Left to right: Tyra, Tilda and Björk. Same order swatched over black:

Ta-da! There you have it. lol I think, though, over black is kind of boring compared to the more transformative effect with other colors. Specifically like we saw with Tyra. These definitely warrant further experimentation.

Tomorrow it's supposed to be cold and wet again, and I'm replacing the outlet by my dad's chair. Hopefully, though, I can get Models Own Pray (and my storenvy haul) posted before it's super late. lol Y'all stay warm and safe!! (^_^)"/"

Models Own: Chrome Rose

Hello darlings. Back with another Models Own chrome. ^_^ Working my way through them. I got really lucky getting pics of Chrome Rose since the sun decided to peak out from behind the clouds for a whole five minutes!

Ta-da! Two coats, super fast drying. Very classy for a chrome.

I was going to stamp over this one, but kept spazzing out, so.... here's another shot:

Very pretty. ^_^

Tomorrow's going to be kind of a long post. I'll have Julep Colton and Bjork plus a comparison between the three Metamorphic topcoats. Feels like I'm continually trying to make my way through a mountain of polish. lol Ah well, things to look forward to. Looking at another cold front tomorrow.... Hope everybody's staying warm and safe. Take care, y'all! (^_^)"/"

Finger Paints: Sea Temptress +Plus

So blogger's not going to allow nudity anymore, huh? Unless it's "artistic" or the blog is private. That's kind of a shame. I don't post nudity (at least, I don't think I have... not on purpose...), but I'm all for people's rights and freedom of expression and it's not like they show random (or "trending" or whatever) blogs on the home page. Why must everything be watered down and made "child friendly"?! Are they going to start censoring profanity next? This... is why I hate people... *sigh*

I love polish, though. Even quirky little wierdos like Sea Temptress:

Poor dear was sitting all unloved and on clearance for $2 so I had to give her a home. This is two coats that absolutely did not dry. Seriously. I did a full mani and had to take it off because even after an hour as soon as I touched her she started smearing. o_O She dried on my palette so I'm assuming it was a basecoat incompatibility?

Sheer iridescent base with glitter-induced texture. I'll be honest- I didn't get it until I posted a quick-pic on facebook and my friend Brak said "It looks like fish scales!". *facepalm* That's exactly what it looks like! LOL I'm such a dope. With that in mind, I could definitely see using this as part of a costume.

It is kinda pretty. Just next time I'll play around with some undies and hopefully I'll be able to get her to dry. *grumbles*

So... I ran to Ulta to try and track down a polish for KarenD. I don't know if I found it, but I did find these:

Rock My World and Let Stars Rain Down On Me!. It caught my eye because sitting in the display it looks like a clear polish, but the bottle says, "Shake me! I'm pretty" so I did and she is! Holo sparkle pretties. ^_^ I had the same settling issue with Nails Inc Hackney Crackle and that worked just fine so I'm not concerned with the seemingly insignificant amount of sparklies.

Tomorrow I've got Models Own Chrome Rose and then Friday should be my Julep Metamorphic Topcoat comparison. I just got a new set of Bundle Monster plates (not the new set, though those are next) and I really want to do some stamping. *twitches* So hopefully I'll figure that out soon. lol We got a break in the weather today, I hope you did, too! Take care out there. Stay warm and safe. (^_^)"/"

Models Own: Paradise Garage VS Zoya: Giovanna

*rushes in* I'm here! I'm here... Really trying not to get more behind than I already am. This weather is killing me, though. All I want to do is sleep.

Today I have two super fabulous greens to share. Starting with two coats of Models Own Paradise Garage:

Absolutely perfect emerald green! Paradise Garage has a metallic base (as evidenced by the silver streaks in the bottle) that make it a dream to work with.

Two coats also of Zoya Giovanna:

Stunning! Giovanna was a bit more sheer, but applied very easily and dried quickly. Except on my thumb, apparently...

Giovanna is just slightly more blue-toned than Paradise Garage. They are both amazingly beautiful, though.

Still have a bit of a cough, but working through it. Got a lot to do tomorrow, but hopefully I'll find time for a quick post on Finger Paints Sea Temptress. There really isn't much to say about it anyway. lol Y'all take care out there and stay warm!! (^_^)"/"

Formula X: Torque

Hello and ZOMG I hope everybody is staying warm!! It's holding in the mid-40s here, but we're looking at freezing rain (and maybe snow) the next two days so I know it's bad everywhere else. *shivers* Unfortunately today's polish is not near as warm and comforting as yesterday's Pink Punch. lol Instead we're embracing that coldness with the metal chromeness of Formula X Torque:

I searched the internet for nearly half an hour trying to figure out just what kind of metal this reminded me of. It's like an antique something... like a mix of silver and copper maybe? Two coats, fast drying. Works like your standard chrome so you have to load up the brush and work quickly to avoid drag.

So pretty. Whatever color it is.

Alrighty, tomorrow I have Models Own Paradise Garage and Zoya Giovanna. Then Tuesday will be Finger Paints Sea Temptress which... wow... you'll want to catch that one. lol Still working on ideas for the #SBBNailChallenges. I almost had one, but could not stop smudging the design. *grumbles* Anyway, y'all stay warm and safe out there. It's going to be a rough week. (^_^)"/"

Models Own: Pink Punch

Even though Pink Punch did require undies (I'm curious about these people who claim otherwise), she is a gorgeous watermelony neon all the same.

Such a bright, happy color! Perfect if you're sick or freezing to lift the spirits. ^_^

The formula was amazing, applied smoothly and dried quickly.

I did topcoat because the first time I applied her I had a ton of damage from cleaning. -_- Better safe than sorry.

Still feeling a bit under the weather, but... too much to do to let it slow me down. Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Up next I'll have Formula X Torque and then a comparison between Models Own Paradise Garage and Zoya Giovanna; plus, perhaps, some more stamping. Y'all take care out there. (^_^)"/"

Julep: Shelly & Luna +Haul

Hello, all. I am (hopefully) back from my short, sick-induced hiatus. I probably could have blogged, but I just wasn't feeling it. I'm still not 100% well, but well enough to concentrate. ;) Today we have a layering combination I have been looking forward to since adding Luna to my January Maven box. Finally getting around to it! Starting with two coats of Shelly:

A beautiful sky blue cream. I had no problems with the formula on this one.

Luna, on the other hand, applied nicely enough, but the frosty iridescent finish proved... interesting...

It is pretty, for the most part. I would recommend layering over a lighter color, otherwise the base ends up looking like this:

Not fantastic. lol Here's a shot with the flash:

The bonus is that this is one coat. The flakies spread themselves out fairly evenly. Those that lay flat. I did have some with edges sticking up. Overall, though, worth the $4.99 (covered by Jules) add-on price.

I had to run to Sally's for one final swap purchase and ran into a bit of... impulse buying...

Urban Lights and Hey Mr DJ! were buy one get one, Sea Temptress was on clearance for a little over $2. Also on clearance were some little "tubs" of dried flowers for nail art (which I'm super psyched to try out) and these cute files and tweezers were only 49cents each. The tweezers work better than the new ones I had just picked up! Fun and functional.

Assuming my health doesn't suddenly go downhill again *fingers crossed* I should be back tomorrow with Models Own Pink Punch which is freakin' amazeballs! I think I ended up wearing it for almost three days! That will be followed by Formula X Torque. Working down the line. Need to keep it up because I have another swap package coming soon! *SQUEE* Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend! (^_^)"/"

Models Own: Chrome Olive VS Chrome Gold

Sometimes you come across colors within a collection that appear almost too similar. Especially in the case of super reflective chromes or super sparkly holos. It was very difficult to note any differences between these two chromes while stamped; bring on the swatching!

Let's begin with two coats of Chrome Olive:

Very nice and shiny. You can kind of see the pale green tones.

Next, two coats of Chrome Gold:

Definitely more yellow. Let's see them together!

Chrome Gold on the left, Chrome Olive on the right. Much easier to tell the difference this way. Here's another shot, included is Chrome Rose because the bottle for that one is also on the muted side:

All different. ^_^ And the masses breath a sigh of relief. *phew* lol

Well, for a while I was ahead of the game, but after a hectic day yesterday I'm about to be back to swatching the night before posts. *grumbles* Tomorrow I've got Julep Shelly and Luna followed by Models Own Pink Punch. So far I haven't run into any iced neons that don't require undies, but Norma swears by Pukka Purple so we'll see when I get there... lol Alrighty, time to take another crack at cleaning the stove... *grumbles* Oh... and feed the cats, I guess. *oops* Y'all take care out there. Those of you who are getting one, enjoy your extended weekend! (^_^)"/"

"Costume" Contact Lenses

Hello all you fabulous people! (^_^)"/" Today I'm going to review three different lenses that we've purchased recently and the sites that we got them from. Why three different sites? >_> He's pretty particular about his accessories and, ya know, I need a site that offers the correct prescription. Since neither blogger nor facebook let me choose a preview/thumbnail pic I'm going to go ahead and start with my contacts.

Ta-da! These are the EOS New Adult Pink Circle lenses from Pinky Paradise. I actually had to get these in a slightly lower power because the -5.00 were sold out. These must be popular because there are even fewer options available now. *eep* I checked their customer images and was fairly certain the center hole would be on the smaller side, but they still look rather large to me...

It's not as noticeable from a distance, but the blue+pink makes them look kind of lavendary to some people. The one thing I really like (aside from Rx options) is the super cute case that's included for free!

*SQUEE*!! hehehe Also, for better or worse, now that I have these I've been wearing more makeup. lol When I wear my glasses I don't usually bother, but without them my face feels naked and exposed so I have to dress it up.

So there's that.

Up next is the Manson Red Crazy Contacts that he ordered from colorlens4less.

Basically flat red with a black outline. The thing I like about this site is that you can add $5 to the order and they'll send a random pair of colored lenses! The ones he got were your basic "alter your color and still look natural" kind, but for $5 that's still not bad. If only I weren't half blind... They do offer "normal" colored lenses and plain clear lenses with Rx up to -8.00 so there is that. Will probably use them when I run out of clear ones.

Finally, the i-Glow Twilight New Moon ordered from YouKnowIt. He was driving me crazy waiting for these to arrive. lol Video time!

Full disclosure: One of the lenses did rip in half. >_< I talked with customer service and replacements are on the way, plus another pair that I got a sweet deal on. YouKnowIt does offer Rx up to -4.00 on some lenses, but they cost twice as much!! If that's not a problem for you then that's a good site to check out. (I'll stick with Pinky Paradise lol)

So there you have it. Hope you enjoyed this non-nail post. I'll be back tomorrow with Chrome Gold and Chrome Olive. Hope everyone is having a great weekend! (^_^)"/"

Happy Valentine's Day

Hello, dolls. Here's hoping your February 14th is filled with much chocolate. lol

First off, some swatching. I got these Sinful Colors polishes together and wanted to swatch them together, so that's what I did. Starting with two coats of Dardevil which, fair warning, is pretty sheer.

Daredevil caught my attention because it's a pretty interesting pink with a nice shimmer that makes it almost glow. Daredevil does dry matte, though, and a lot of that shimmer goes with it.

Up next is a fun glitter called Love Sprinkles. One coat:

Yeah, only fished out the one heart this time. Ah well.

Love Sprinkles is a very pale pink base with matte white and pale pink glitters. Plus the hearts. Simple and cute. Then I went to town stamping.

Yep, all of that stamped with Finger Paints Expressionist Red which worked fabulously!

Even though I really don't consider myself a fan of Valentine's Day, I kinda like this. Also this:

Yum. ^_^ Happy Lizzy.

Tomorrow we're taking a small polish break with some contact lenses, then back to the Models Own Chromes on Monday. Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend, whatever your plans. (^_^)"/"
