No H8 Day ~ Zoya: Suri & WnW: Hannah Pinktana

Bullying is not funny. It is not cool. It is not right. And more importantly, it is not okay. Most of us are, thankfully, residents of countries that support tolerance and many of our families have settled in these places simply for that reason. Generations later, it is our responsibility to perpetuate that message of tolerance across our new social platforms, including the internet.

As members of the nail polish blogging community, we all share a love of beauty, color, and lacquer. Other than that, we are remarkably different: from our race to our religion to our hair color...even to our polish application techniques. To marginalize anyone because of those differences is completely unacceptable and today I take a stand against that. I refuse to allow other people's view of "normal" dictate how I behave, believe, and blog.

In solidarity with a multitude of bloggers linked below, my purple manicure represents my proud commitment to the No H8 movement. Today, November 8, I dedicate my post to ending bullying of any kind and to encouraging diversity and imperfection among our colorful community.

Ok, so I can't find the original post that brought this to my attention (checked up and down Lacey's fb page and either I missed it twice or she deleted it), but I immediately joined the blog/cause linked above. I was a victim of bullies through most of elementary and middle school. Because I was smart, because I wore second hand or homemade clothes, because I was different. As a kid I know it's devestating when people hate you and go out of their way to make you feel bad and you just can't understand why. As an adult it's just sad that there are people who can only feel good about themselves by cutting down someone else. I know a lot of people say "bullying is a part of life, it's not going to change", but that's the same as saying "bullying is ok" and it's not ok! Everyone is different, but equal, and no one has the right to make anyone feel like they're worth less than anybody else. People shouldn't have to be guarded or defensive and they certainly shouldn't be made to feel so worthless they end up killing themselves. "oh if they were stronger then..." NO! They shouldn't have to be. We're all in this together and we should be making each other stronger and helping each other up. Not cutting each other down. Am I a helpless idealist? Maybe I am. Maybe that's why I don't want children, but that's another story.

Today's story is purple polish for Eradicate Hate. I started with a base of Zoya Suri.

Suri is a lovely purple with pink and blue shimmers. I don't know how well those come across, but they're there. This is two coats that dried.... fairly quickly.

I first saw Hannah Pinktana over on Cotton Candy Blog and nearly died. I was so happy when I went out to HEB and they had it. With a coupon!

It's like a pink/purple version of Blue Wants To Be a Millionaire!

And just to show you that it's not entirely sheer, here are the two side-by-side.

:) And you know I had to get some video of this beauty.

Holo goodness on the cheap. You know I love it. I thought I had an idea for tomorrow, but at the moment I can't recall what it might have been. I'm going to get some walking in then peruse my collection page. Happy Thursday, spread the love, have a great week. :)

I love hearing from you!
