Independence Day Mani #2

So this one doesn't really count as "nail art", but Julep made this special polish just for the occasion and here it is!

America the Beautiful. "America the Beautiful is a shiny red with royal blue glitter and sterling silver stars, it's like nail art in a bottle!" Well, there ya go. They said it so I'm off the hook. Also, sorry for the sorta crummy pics. I'll be picking up new batteries as soon as I can convince myself to go back out into the heat. Close up!!

I did one coat of America over a base color that I'll get to in a minute. First: Matte!

Ok, that doesn't look as exciting. My pinky is matte and my ring finger is supposed to be shiny for comparison.... Again, sorry about the pictures. I guess macro doesn't work quite so well on nearly-dead batteries. Even so I coaxed it into loading up the flash long enough to try and capture some more shine.

It really is a lovely, blingy polish. The smaller glitters spread so evenly. I did have to fish a bit for stars, but I kind of expected that. It dried really quickly and two layers of topcoat covered most of the star edges. Still a little bumpy, but it's not really bothering me. Now, the underwear!

I know I said I was going to use a metallic, but it turns out after my Ruby Compare post I had used up the really red ones. In the interest of gaining another linked image I went with Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in Ruby. Ooooh. It is a pretty red, not quite as pretty as Perceval, but prettier than I expected. (If anyone wants a side-by-side comparison of those two, let me know!)

This morning while I was out and about I had to stop by Ulta. After the lovely Brandi swatched the essie Mirror Metallics over on her blog... I was drooling. They have part of the collection at HEB, but not the one I want and polish bought there doesn't count towards my Ulta rewards! So, Ulta it is. Unfortunately Ulta doesn't have them in yet! *cries* Still, after a bit of scariness at the post office I just couldn't let myself walk out empty handed.... and, well, you know how I just can't resist a Month Python reference, intended or not.....

It also doesn't hurt when the color is so pretty!!

Yep, my first Butter London. So I spent more than I intended and didn't get my metallics. One day The Black Knight will face off with King Arthur right on my nails and I will laugh all day about it. :p You can't put a price on that. Hope everyone's week is off to a great start!

  1. I have the black knight too, somehow it's not as impressive as I thought it would be :/

I love hearing from you!
