Back From Hempstead

I think resizing all of these pictures ended up being more of a pain than the actual trip. Ok, so we didn't go to Houston, but to a suburn northish of. Was actually a fairly quick trip, didn't use much gas, and I got the whole ride home to myself. I wasn't up to just letting my mind wander (to be honest I was getting a bit sleepy from the road vibrations) so I occupied myself taking pictures. Many many pictures. Almost a full battery set's worth. LOL First, the road map:

Yep, from here to Houston is one of those instances where the interstate takes longer. So we got to enjoy a nice "backroad" highway trip. Now... Some people get nervous when I start just snapping pictures while I'm driving, so all of these are taken from Point B towards Point A. I should warn you, there are 154 pics in this slideshow, so you don't have to watch it if you don't want to. I've never used photobucket in this way, so I don't know if they'll all be in order or what.... I guess we'll see.

Did it work? Won't know until I publish, I guess. *UPDATE* Looks like it worked, but I don't think the pics are in order. :/ If anybody knows how to, like, edit settings or something on these things, could ya kindly let me know? *END UPDATE* When I got home my mom was so impressed that I helped out my sister (why?) that she paid for pizza for supper. Since we had enough rewards points for another free one we only paid $11 for 2 large. *drools*

Now I'm all bloated, and sleepy. I may have missed out on my internet monies, but it was nice to get out and about and see a part of Texas I've never been before. :)

  1. I didn't sit through the whole slideshow but I did find your pictures really interesting, they reminded me of Steven Shore's early work, all the roads and things at the side of the road, they're really nice actually :). It's nice because you've taken photos of things that you thought were interesting not what others might like and that is what makes me like them! Lol bet you weren't expecting this big comment :P I can't help it though I do like them (blame my photography lecturers)

    1. I'm glad you like them. :) I'm always fascinated by the road. I only wish I had a faster shutter so the sideways once don't come out so blurry. :/

  3. my internet is too slow to load the entire slideshow. :/ but your pics make me all happy/sad nostalgic. yep, that's texas... i miss you and my family and all the good times i've had there, but i also remember all the boredom and nothingness and ohmythebigots! we grow us some good homestyle bigots there. but i am experiencing some roadtrip envy. one good thing about lots of nothing is that it gives you room to wander... and think.

    1. Aw. Sorry you didn't get to see the slideshow. But I guess that's okay, because I don't want to make you sad. *hugs* Texas may not be perfect, but it's definitely great if you just want to drive.
