Take 2 Legacy #15

There are always those sims that work hard and play harder. Gunther II happens to be one of those sims. Of course, being the straight arrow that he is, he doesn't go out to the bar drinking all night, or dancing, or causing any trouble. He finds other, more private ways to have himself a good time.

Fortunately for Suzette he's still a bit of a romantic at heart. Here he is serenading her before convincing her that they're ready to start growing their family.

That very night Harmony was invited to a pool party at the palacial Landgraab Estates. Of course this legacy minded sim just could not pass up such an invitation. She used the appropriate excuse of catching up with her old friend, Geoffrey. In reality, she just wanted to get a peak at the inside of this humongous house!

And top off the night with a dip in the pool. Shame she couldn't stay longer, but she's got to be at the hospital bright and early in the morning.

That didn't stop her from beginning a little renovation job. Here is one of two planned 2-car garages. There will be an identical one on the other side of the lot. Symmetry!

Both currently being early risers (Gunther has taken to sleeping in a bit before working on his books) gives Harmony and Suzette the opportunity to get to know each other just a little bit better before starting the day.

And the obligatory sharing of news over breakfast. Harmony is quite content knowing that she has a grandchild on the way. Fiercely hoping it's a boy even though Suzette wants a little girl....

Naturally Suzette and Gunther II are preparing as best they can for the upcoming bundle of joy. Just like any other responsible, eager, scared to death soon-to-be parents.

And get this, just as Gunther is finishing up "Mountain Raw" he gets another call from Annalee. She was so happy with his first book she's commissioned him for a second. This one emphasising her relationship with Gertrude and how she became "real". He plans on calling it: "Revisiting Annalee: Beyond Imagination". Sounds promising.

Take 2 Legacy #14

Things are going smoothly. You'd never even notice the underlying tensions ("Why are they waiting so long to continue our gorious legacy?!") if you didn't know they were there. Suzette's nurturing nature seems to be a fine counter-balance to Harmony's ambitious one. And even though their schedules don't exactly sync with Gertrude II working late in the afternoon, he and Suzette still manage to make plenty of time to spend with each other.

Perhaps one reason for Harmony's temperance is that she's getting old. No, I'm not just saying that to be mean. Happy Birthday, Harmony! She doesn't seem to be near as distraught as her husband about becoming an elder.

Harmony, so far, has no plans to retire. She's still spry and, in fact, wants to reach Medical Level 10. This keeps her at work quite a bit and leaves Suzette plenty of time to absorb the cooking channel. She hasn't acquired many recipes from it, but her gained levels give her the ability to learn them from books. I mention this because last time she was at the bookstore she took a trip down the sheet music aisle and picked up some piano scores for Gunther II.

Poor Gunther. He just got back from work, fixed the dishwasher and television and had just laid down to sleep when a call came in about a high priority interrogation. Can't you just hear him grumbling?

While everyone else was out and at work Suzette took a trip to the park down the street. It's not terribly big (not like the park in the center of town), but it's cozy and has plenty to occupy little children. Satisfied with her trip she was about to head home when she ran into a former classmate and struck up a conversation. No, there wasn't anything innappropriate going on, but who is that in the background?

Never seen her before, but she kind of looks like a circus performer or something.

Neat. When he finally got back from work Gunther was exhausted. He'd gotten enough raises to make 700 simoleons an hour. Not too shabby! Except that he was in no mood to make use of it. Not by a long shot. Just as soon as he walked in the door he called up his boss (at home; in the middle of the night) and told him to shove it. Nicely, of course, and now he gets 300 simoleons a day for his retirement pay.

Hrm. I've never seen this either. Apparently retirement is quite the big deal. Although . . . I have no idea what Yetis have to do with anything. . . .

This will free him up to continue writing (he's currently working on a romance novel titled "Mountain Raw") and help Suzette with the growing house and upcoming grandchildren. Any day now they're going to get on that. . . .

Frankenputer Revisited

Yes, again already. Given the stellar fan performance I felt more than comfortable ordering up the seperate LED bar. Purely aesthetic. After placing the order I was a bit concerned that I'd run out of plug-in cords for the insides, but as it turned out, my fears were unnecessary.

Ok, you probably can't tell why from this picture, but I'll explain anyway. You know how an extension cord works? It's got something like that on the end of this. Both a male and female plug-in. So rather than unplugging the half-working DVD drive just to plug in this little lighted wonder, I simply had to unplug the fan, plug the fan into this and then plug this into the cord the fan was previously plugged into. Make sense?

They even included some handy-dandy stick-on velcro for easy mounting. How nice. Ready to see this baby all lit up?!

OOOOoooooohhhhhh..... O_o Ok, so it's not near as bright as the picture on amazon. I'm assuming that one was put next to a less-bright fan? Either way, it lights up the bottom and that's what I wanted it for.

Next time I open up the case for cleaning (less of a problem with the fan blowing everything out instead of sucking it in) I'll probably move that light down so it does, in fact, shine straight out of the vents. It's bright, sure, but not blinding. Still pretty awesome.

Take 2 Legacy #13

Just a quick little update for your eager little selves. First, a bird's eye view of Manor Rittan. It's slowly starting to take shape.

Suzette's lifetime goal is to learn every available recipe, and she's well on her way. I'm hoping that since foreign travel has been (hopefully) temporarily suspended that watching the cooking channel will give her those coveted international recipes.

So far she's doing quite well fitting into the family. During this chess match Harmony filled her in on the purpose of their expansive plot of land and the importance of naming their son Gunther III. Suzette took it all in stride. Even the inevitable game loss at the hands of a far more practiced player.

Even though he will be branching into the Symphonic career track (and not Rock Star one), Gunther II still took it upon himself to tone up a bit. After all, a healthy sim is a happy sim and he knows he's got genetics against him.

After a few easy meals of pancakes and salad Suzette took a trip to the book store to begin work on expanding her culinary repertoire. Nothing quite like learning the secrets of cookies while perched on the fountain in the middle of the park. It also happens to be a good place for the family minded sim to sit and observe the happy families milling around, and making one wistful for the days to come.

During the manor's renovation there came the idea to begin a monument wall. There's Gertrude's prom picture and her scouting sash; and Gunther II's prom picture and his graduation awards. I'm not sure how complicated this will be once it's expanded (or what will be used to represent Gunther and Harmony), but for now it's kinda neat.

Just as Harmony before her, Suzette sits and writes out the thank you notes for the lovely wedding gifts her and Gunther II recieved. All in this newly added den/office area. Gunther also upgraded his computer. No more cheese.

Mastering the guitar was not enough to satisfy Gunther II's virtuoso nature. He's begun work on the piano. As a future symphonic genius (perhaps?) he'd much prefer something a bit more tasteful than this electric keyboard, but this happened to be one of his wedding presents.

And now for a bit of a laugh and, perhaps, karma. This was unexpected as I've never seen this bit before. While working her way back up the medical professional career path Harmony signed up to help the pharmaceutical research team with their research. Would you look at the size of that pill!!

Oh no, she's not really gonna swallow that is she?!

Oh, it looks like she's going to try. C'mon Harmony! Power through!!

Wow. I can't believe she swallowed that huge pill. I can't tell if this look is relief at having got it down, or an actual effect. Either way, she got an extra fifty simoleons.

Gunther was busy with work, both regular hours and overtime pouring over evidence. He's almost finished his fourth novel.

Take 2 Legacy #12

Gunther II has managed to make his way into the music career, despite his mother's flaky departure. He's met each of the band members and thankfully they're all giving him a chance. He is is own sim, after all. Being a few days older than Suzette he's had to wait a few days before being able to see her, but right after her graduation he called her over for a homemade meal.

They had a great night together and at the end he felt comfortable asking her to be his wife. Of course she accepted! They have decided to put off woohooing until after the wedding and are putting off the wedding until Gunther II has securely established himself in his chosen career path. A very responsible move. Harmony wasn't thrilled by the decision to wait, but at least Suzette is wearing his ring.

There was a bit of awkwardness when Gunther II decided to throw a bachelor party and nobody showed up. Even having a master mixologist managing the open bar and a full buffet wasn't enough to draw a crowd. At least it gave Gunther the chance to impart some (possibly) helpful marital advice.

Harmony wasn't about to let the rented dance floor and fancy lighting go to waste. A couple glasses of special mood enhancing "juice" and she was up all night wiggling around in the living room.

I am surprised, though, at her most recent accomplishment. Even though she didn't need to for job reasons, she's mastered the martial arts skill and attained her black-gold belt. Congratulations, Harmony. Now maybe you can master your logic and stick with your medical career long enough to get a worthwhile retirement package?

Speaking of retirement, somebody's had a birthday! He hasn't retired just yet, but by the tired look on his face I'm willing to bet that decision will be made soon enough.

Poor old guy. He's been through a lot, but since the police force . . . uh . . . forced him into shape, he should live long enough to see his grandchildren. Gunther II's early start learning guitar has rocketed him through the musical ranks. He's not quite in the band yet, but he's definitely next in line for stardom. You know what that means! *dum~dum~dumdum* The spectacular failure of his bachelor party kind of soured Gunther II on the idea of a big wedding and so the two quietly exchanged rings in the back yard of "Manor Rittan".

Now that they are married grandchildren are sure to follow. Both Harmony and Gunther are eagerly awaiting a fresh batch of young'un's, but Gunther II and Suzette want to give it a little time. Build up a nest egg (perhaps for private school?) and allow Suzette to become accustomed to the new family dynamic. But exchanged rings soon leads to exchanged fluids and woohooing is a favored past time.

Like all sims, Suzette wasn't exactly blessed with her age-up hair and clothing combination. It wasn't awful, but it didn't exactly scream "Rittan Legacy". Now this is much prettier.

She kinda looks like a statue. Very nice. Gunther II has kept in touch with Gertrude who is looking forward to seeing any upcoming nieces and nephews. Annalee was touched and delighted at Gunther's compilation of her personal history and they both spent time at the book store autographing copies and answering questions about what it's like to be/live with an "invisible" friend. Harmony has put in extra hours giving free vaccinations to new residents of Moonlit Shores ("Buy a house, get a shot for free!"). And Gunther II and Suzette have been surveying the property to decide the best way to expand so they'll be ready when the family grows.

Take 2 Legacy #11

The Rittan household continues on in spite of their "loss". Gunther and Harmony were given the day off to attend Gertrude's graduation, but they did not. Instead they spent the day skill building. Even Gunther II had the day off, but since no one told him about the graduation ceremony he worked on his guitar skills instead. His goal of helping Gertrude and Annalee finished he no longer needs his chemistry set and he's got to work hard if he's going to be a Hit Movie Composer some day.

So far Harmony seems pretty happy in her athletic choice and has been working hard finishing off her athletic skill. Higher skills make for faster promotions!

The next day at school Gunther II heard about the previous night's graduation ceremony and called Gertrude to apologize. They spent a few hours catching up and making sure each other was ok. She really did appreciate his getting ahold of her.

Harmony was told by her coach that if she really wanted to make it on the Feisty Llamette girl's soccer team she should concider training in the martial arts. It would help her speed, coordination and flexibility. Eager to advance she bought this training dummy and got right to work.

Ideally a person should study martial arts with a respect for the activity. It's not hard to tell, however, where Harmony's mind is...

Over the weekend Gunther II spent a great deal of time with Suzette. He decided to take it easy (foregoing his father's advice) and just enjoy the time with her. They walked around town talking and laughing, stopping at random places to eat and watched the stars at night. By the end of their Sunday date Gunther II mustered up the courage to ask her to prom. When she said yes he just had to try again for that pivotal first kiss.

But there was a problem. A terrible problem of epic proportions; as far as the teenage mind is concerned. His birthday was the day before prom!! If he aged up, then he'd miss it and Suzette would be standing alone in the gymnasium with all those other guys milling around her... He just couldn't have that.

Just one little life fruit to extend his teenage-hood by one little day. Long enough to enjoy prom with the girl he'd worked so hard to impress. One little life fruit never hurt anybody, right? Too bad Cleo isn't around to see this.

Feeling a bit awkward about his decision he decided to clear his mind playing for tips at the park. Unfortunately the mass exodus of Moonlit Shores has still left the park a bit empty lately and he didn't make any money. He did gain another level of skill, though, and his breath no longer smelled of life fruit by the time he got home.

As prom rolls around Gunther II is both nervous and excited. This could be a big night for him and Suzette. He's not expecting to go "all the way" (sim teens can't do that sort of thing), but if she doesn't like the way he dances or finds some other guy she fancies more; he could be left alone in a corner. Even with all of these thoughts floating through his mind he hops in the limo, picks up Suzette and bravely makes his way to prom.

Fortunately it was a fantastic night. His killer moves were super impressive, Suzette never left his side and they were voted prom king and queen together! A successful night all around. Topped off by Gunther II's birthday right after.

Don't they make a great looking young couple?

In a shocking turn of events word of Gunther's growing writing skills have made their way across town. Out of the blue Gunther recieves a call from Annalee to write her biography. He graciously accepts the honor and titles the book: Annalee Rittan: An Invisible Presence. A title which tickles Annalee, because it affirms her existance before being made sim.

Not surprisingly everyone attended Gunther II's graduation ceremony. Even Gertrude and Annalee snuck in and sat in the back to watch "their" little brother walk across the stage. He didn't attend any of the few after parties, but he was still pretty stoked to have this stage of his life behind him. The future awaits!

In addition to the coveted diploma he was also awarded the honors of valedictorian and "Most Likely to get Electrocuted". He's had a few potions blow up in his face, a little jolt sounds like a challenge!

One that could have easily happened the next morning if he didn't acquire his father's Handy trait while aging up. Nothing quite like standing in a puddle of water while tinkering with a broken dishwasher....

It's not really pivotal, but while playing around with their virtual reality goggles, Gunther II appeared to have gone weightless for a while. Those sci-fi quests are getting more realistic every day!

With Gunther II grown (though not moved out of his legacy manor home) Gunther and Harmony have been given the gift of time. Time to appreciate each other and woohoo more often (and in more places) before they're too old and the pitter patter of little grandchildren feet fill their home.

On a bit of a side note, I seem to have run into a glitch with the Llama Memorial Stadium. For some reason Harmony would go to work and then teleport outside. Even sending her back to work would cause her job performance to go down. So in a fit of frustration I walked her across town back to the hospital to beg for her old job back. At least they're letting her start at Level 3 and not rock bottom....
