When we first moved here, it was absolutely gorgeous.  Only 1 other neighbor (who we never really saw), the whole driveway covered on both sides with trees, trees which actually buffered the noise from town!  It was like not even living in crap-ass Killeen anymore.  The air was fresh and wildlife roamed free.  At one point there was actually a deer who made it's way into the yard next door.

Then, people moved in to the other empty trailers.  This I didn't mind so much.  It takes a certain kind of person to live out here.  We all keep to ourselves and mind our own business unless it's an emergency of some kind.  Still, we enjoyed a few years of isolated bliss before the bulldozers came in.  Right next to us to the North they put in a big ol' cul-de-sac of apartments.  Fine.  Whatever.  We still have some trees to block them.  At least a little bit.  But this was only the beginning.

Now, they've bulldozed the entire south of us!  From our driveway clear to the autobody shop.  They've put in survey stakes and it's only a matter of time before our privacy is lost forever.  I could sit and whine and moan and complain until I'm blue in the face (as I have before), but I figured I'd share with you some of the un-recognized victims of this overdevelopment.

This is what it used to look like out here.  See that big dead tree in the center of the picture?  That was a comforting site out here for me.  It used to be twice as big before a big storm knocked off a huge chunk of it.  I couldn't be mad at that.  lol  It had steps nailed up the front of it and a big ol' base where a treehouse was once nestled.  Now, from this very same spot you have a clear view of the houses lined up on Stan Schleuter Lp.

This right here is the ugliest cat I have ever seen in my life.  No one knows where it came from, but we all take some time out to feed it and give it water if it doesn't rain.  This cat is a helluva survivor.  Right now it's fairing better than the tree, but for how long?!  If you're reading this and you live here, then you know what kind of people move into these apartments.  How long before one of their asshole kids terrorizes and torments this poor ugly kitty?  This cat who has done harm to none and only asks to be left alone.

It's been nearly a year (when the first demolition of land began) since I've seen a hawk fly around here.  Mice are making their way into our homes because they've nowhere else to go.  The rains no longer bring frogs to view . . . what happened to them?!  No more rabbits either.  Where once I gathered wildflowers is now only dirt.  No more bluebonnets, no more thistle or sunflowers.  Only dirt waiting to be built upon.

I hate what has become of my neighborhood.  I can no longer feel the energy of the land here.  Leaving the house has become a depressing affair.  I hate this stupid town, and I hate it more every day.

Chocolate Crinkles (cookies)

One of my favorite holiday memories has to be sitting around the kitchen baking cookies.  No mixers running, no frozen dough.  All from scratch and all by hand.  We were in Germany during Desert Shield/Desert Storm and my mom, my sisters and I made 30 dozen cookies to send in the care packages.  This recipe has always been one of my favorites:

2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 tsps vanilla extract
4 oz. unsweetened baking chocolate (melted and cooled)
4 eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsps baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup powdered sugar

1. In large bowl, mix granulated sugar, oil, vanilla and chocolate.  Stir in eggs, one at a time.  Stir in flour, baking powder and salt.  Cover; refrigerate at least 3 hours.  (More won't hurt)
2.Heat oven to 350F.  Grease cookie sheet with shortening or cooking spray.  (Lining it with parchment paper works even better)  Place powdered sugar in small bowl.  Roll about a tsp of dough into a ball then roll around in the powdered sugar.  Make sure it's not caked on there or that's all you'll taste when they're done.  Place about 2 inches apart on cookie sheet.
3. Bake 10-12 minutes (takes 15 in my oven) or until almost no indentation remains when touched.  Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.  Cool completely about 30 minutes.
They should be almost cake-like.  If you don't like 'em.  Oh well.  Neither does Aaron, but that's not gonna stop me from making 'em!  ^_^

Dream Meanings

By Shed Spread special request I went and checked for their online dream book.  They have literally oodles of dream symbol meanings and, surprisingly, different interpretations for your personal feelings on things.  (what something means in your dream will differ depending on whether you have harsh or happy emotions attached to something when you're awake).  They have a big ol' section on cats, but nothing on being a cat.  However, The Guild Companion says that "being a cat denotes stealth, agility and luck", but the fact that this is a D&D reference article has me a bit skeptical.  OOoooooh  O.o  Now this is interesting.  According to, to dream of consuming poison (snorting bug spray is consuming poison, right?)  indicates "that you are introducing something into yourself that is harmful to your well-being.  This may be feelings of bitterness, jealousy or other bad feelings that is consuming you."

Now, my High School psychology teacher would probably bust a gasket over this, but you don't need to look up every single last syllable ("Evil Dead" rocks) of a dream to figure out it's meaning.  Mine was pretty easy.  I was a cat, and I got poisoned.  Yet, if I were to go and look up: Mother, Father, 3 (three cats altogether), jump, vent, car, driveway, neighbor, lady, roof, etc.; then the message itself would just get muddled.

Ex:  In HS psychology when we did dream interpretation the night before I had dreamt that my boyfriend at the time was driving me somewhere and we ended at a cross-roads in the middle of the woods where there was a traffic light (cuz that happens all the time in Texas, lol) and when he tried to stop the car spun around and nearly flipped over.  Personally, from the way I felt about him, and his manic driving, this told me the end was near.  Which it was.  However, through looking up all the symobls the book (can't remember if it was Freudian or Jungian) said that I felt safe with him.

My point (Yes Virginia, there is a point) is that when it comes to dream interpetation, 9 times out of 10, go with your gut.  How do you feel about what's going on?  If a dream seems to have no direct message, but is rife with symbolism, then look up those symbols for which you have no direct feelings one way or another.  I'll generally look up certain animals in the three books I have with dream symbols in them.  Maybe my Gypsy book has something on being a cat . . . .  Actual interpretation is not my forte, but I will add interpretation to dreams I post.  Assuming it's not too long.  lol

If you're wanting to check on your own dreams and don't wanna go out and buy a book (I've seen 'em between $30-$100) then just check  So far the most complete collection of dream symbols I've found.

Dream Experience

I'm back.  ^_^  Been a long week there.  Thought I'd share an interesting dream I had a couple of days ago.  In it, I was a cat.  Walking on all fours with cat parents and everything.  This was wierd for me, because normally I'm just myself.
I had come home after exploring all day, and my cat-dad was livid.  He was worried something could have happened to me.  I got scared and took off.  I ended up next door where it didn't take me long to remember that the old lady next door hated cats.  I ran as quick as I could while she was trying to spray me with some kind of poison.  I jumped on top of her car then up on her roof, hoping she wouldn't be able to reach me.

I wish I could remember more of the exploring part, but as far as I remembered (and wrote down) after I woke up, the dream started with my coming home.

Happy Birthday To Me

Oy, another year gone by.  What am I now, 24? 25? Do I hear 23?  23 sounds good.  We'll go with that for now.  *snickers*  I got to feel nice and old 2 days ago when I heard the first 80s song played on the Oldies station.  *sigh*  I guess it makes sense since they were playing 60s music in the 80s, but why!  I think I'll go off and cry now . . . . . maybe not.  It's not so bad.  At least now they're playing 'em on 2 stations . . . 3 if you count the old metal they play on 101.7.  I really don't, but I'm sure some people do.  I'm really diggin' the Neopets birthday sidebar.  It's so colorful!  Got a great breakfast in bed prepared by my loving husband, who also happens to be the cook in the family.  I guess that's really it.  Is it just me or does my picture look all grainy all of a sudden?  Might have to take a new one . . . .

My Reading (+ some stuff)

Okay, at first glance all looks good.  I used a normal 10-card spread, and here's how it came out:

1) Present Position: The Empress - Feminine aspects, progress
2)Current Circumstances: The Star - Hope, Faith, Good Omen
3)Goal: 5 of Cups - Partial loss
4)Distant Past: King of Swords - Professional Man
5)Recent Past: Page of Pentacles - Bearer of News
6)Future Events: 6 of Wands - Conquest, Triumph
7)Querent's Role: 5 of Pentacles - Loss, failure
8)Environmental Influence:Queen of Wands - Sympathetic person
9)Inner Emotions:The Hermit - Prudence, Withdrawel
10)Overview:Queen of Pentacles - Prosperity, Well-being

Yes, this is a very basic description . . . and I can just hear Wkd now, "What?!  You didn't expand for the face cards?  How are you supposed to know what the message is?"  lol  At any rate, I got the information I was looking for.  Notice no Tower or Death card.  So while the change will be great, it will not require a dramatic loss.  *phew*  I know who all of the people represented are (they come up often) and the cards showing my role and inner feelings are pointing me exactly where I need to be.  I will probably do another reading with the Queen of Wands and the King of Swords to see exactly which way I should be looking on this one (in this particular situation I'm up in the air), but at least I can look forward to a good outcome.  ^_^

Halloween was great.  We didn't get around to watching all of the movies we had lined up, but we owns 'em so it's all good.  We watched a lot of ghost stuff on TV that we don't owns.  lol  We did, however, watch a movie called "Audition".  If you're over 17 (which I know you are) and you think you've got the stomach for it, check it out.  All I'm gonna say is it's Japanese and at one point Aaron and I almost vomited.  So, yeah, check it out.

Happy Samhain

Or Halloween if you prefer.  ^_^  I hope all of you have a wonderful day.  I know I will.  Aside from the normal married-people-anniversary-type-stuff, Aaron and I are gonna watch scary movies and gorge ourselves on junk food all day.  FiddleFaddle, pizza, poppers, nachos . . . ya know, movie food.  Today I will also take the time (probably after he goes to sleep) to do the tarot reading.  I will post the results so those of you who are interested can see what I came up with.  It's been a while, may be a little rusty, but my cards are usually glad to have me back.  ^_^  Yes, they have a personality.  When they're feeling ignored they'll hide from me, and if I've been a good little girl, they don't beat around the bush with their answers.  But I'm ranting.  Don't forget, if you have any departed friends or relatives you would like to get in touch with (the deceased are a treasure trove of information) then today's the day to do it.  It's also the perfect time for divination (where do you think the info's coming from anyway?) and don't forget about the fun and candy!!!!  I guess that's all for today.  Be good little boils and ghouls and keep your pets inside when possible.  Goddess knows I'd NEVER let Onyx out on this day of all days.  She's staying firmly locked up in the bathroom where no psychopath satanist or whathaveyou can get at my baby.

Cloud Scrying

This is something that usually comes up for me when I least expect it.  It's not merely picking out shapes in the clouds.  For me, it's actually seeing the images, sometimes in full color.  Earlier tonight I was out in Heights (no reason, mind your own business!)  and leaned back against the hood of the van to stretch my back.  I looked up and saw a tiger roaring.  Just the face.  Then I widened my vision and the tiger became the face of a lion.  Not roaring, just glaring.  I'm not sure what it means, but it kind of startled me.

Saturday night, a bunch of us made the trek up to Waxahachie to go to the Scream park.  It's a huge Halloween theme park (draped over their Scarborough Faire set-up) with 4 huge haunted houses, food, drink, rides and games.  And a monster museum (which we didn't go in this year cuz it's $5 more to get in there).  Anywho, aside from the freezing temps, it rocked out!  We went in the Arcane Asylum, which was creepy!  One of my favorite parts (and not just cuz it scared Aaron almost out of his skin) was a part that looked like a normal empty room, all lit up, except at the end is a barred up door.  The door moves like there's something trying to get out and then the floorboards start popping up and coming at you!  It was crazy!
The other one we went in was the 3D clown one, I can't remember what it was called . . . and I'm too lazy to check the website.  ^_^  Anyway, it's all psychedelic neon colored and you go through it with 3D glasses on.  Even with Aaron leading me I almost ran into 2 walls.  Seriously, I think the lady in front of us peed her pants.  lol  Towards the end is one of those rotating tunnels.  You walk across this bridge, which I didn't think was gonna be too bad, until the bridge started tilting!  At first I thought it was just me!

I loved the drive there and back (I'm a road trip nut) and totally plan on going back next year to hit the other 2 haunted houses.  One is a huge castle, and the other is called Black Hole . . . or something like that.  Next time I'll be wearing a jacket.

The Noble Eightfold Path

I appreciate your patience.  ^_^  Now, for those of you who are interested, here is the Noble Eightfold path.  It is a part of the Buddhist tradition.  As you will see, it's not so difficult.

1. Right Speech:  True, kind and appropriate speech
2. Right Activity: Actions which do not harm
3. Right Livelihood: Obtaining our substinance by non-harmful and honest means
4. Right Effort: Effort to counteract disturbing attitudes and negative emotions by meditating on the path (I take this as any positive spiritual path you are following)
5. Right Mindfulness: Counteractiving laxity and excitement in our meditation (finding the middle ground in our emotions so we can think clearly)
6. Right Samadhi: The mind that can remain fixed one pointedly upon virtuous objects (concentrating on your tools when working magick, your rosary when praying, etc.)
7. Right View: The wisdom realizing emptiness (I may have to go back over my notes, this one eludes me at the moment)
8. Right Thought: The mind that can explain the path clearly to others and is motivated by the wish for them to be free from suffering (as opposed to the "growing your flock" mentality.  Note, this says explain, not force upon)

So there you have it.  ^_^  Take from it what you will.

Been Awhile

I know, I've been getting lazy.  lol  Actually, just been getting busy.  October is such a full month.  Been trying to get our costumes ready, playing Scarface, and on top of that neopets comes out with a new plot.  Already!  *phew*  So far it's not too difficult, but it will be.  As soon as I fish out my notebook, I'll be posting up the "Noble 8-Fold Path".  I think you'll like it.  ^_^

Spirit and Water

Just something I was thinking about earlier.  That spirituality is a lot like water.  Everyone's got their own bucket.  For some people, this is enough.  Some people dip into their bucket and when it's empty, they don't know where to turn and they feel empty.  Others often go to a river or stream (religion) to refill their bucket.  Each river and stream is different, but is fulfilling for the person who takes their bucket there.  But, I feel, if you follow all of the rivers and streams then they all eventually lead you to the vast oceans.  This is where spirituality becomes deeper, and turns into something much more vast than could ever fit into one bucket.  For some people, the sheer depth of this ocean of Spirit is overwhelming.  For others, it opens up a whole new world of exploration and fulfillment.  Some even lose thier bucket entirely, choosing to draw from their river, or straight from the ocean itself.  Which one are you?

Altador Prizes

Finally TNT has decided to grace us with the prizes for the Altador Plot.  Took long enough.  But, between the sidebar theme, the avatar the book and (drumroll) the Plushie! I guess it was kind of worth the wait.  Kind of.

Aaron and I have been working on our costumes for Halloween.  We're about ready minus a couple of small details (like my shoes and his jacket).  We're doing the Phantom of the Opera.  He's the Phantom and I'm Christine if she had chosen the Phantom.  lol  Now we just have to figure out what we're going to do . . . . .

Shock Treatment

For anyone who doesn't know, Shock Treatment is the "sequel" to Rocky Horror Picture Show (My all time favorite movie).  I finally got to watch it last night.  I'm glad I did.  Didn't like the songs as much as the first one, but there were a few I did like (and one I can't get out of my head) and it was an interesting story.  People may hate on this movie, but I liked it.  It was just weird enough to get my two thumbs up.  ^_^  Check it out, give it a chance, and please don't try to compare it to RHPS.  The two are completely different styles of movie.

Quadrapus Avvie

Finally, the quadrapus avvie is mine!  Muhahahaha!  *ahem*  So as of about an hour ago, I sent the Darigan Peophin to the pound (finally) and grabbed myself a white Grundo.  It's working the Huggy avvie for me, and hopefully the lab ray will be nice and turn it orange.  But I'm not holding my breath on that one.  lol  Also, I already posted the Everything Under the Moon site, but here is a spell I found particularly interesting.  Enjoy.  ^_^

Prophetic Dreams Spell

Meditation can be one of the most confusing things to start doing.  Our minds are used to racing through events (past, present and future), trying to remember things, thinking we must have forgotten something.  It is so hard to get it to just shut up for a few moments!  This, I think, is one of the things that gets people so discouraged when beginning a meditation regimen.

If you're not used to meditating, when you start out, try a more active meditation.  Sit comfortably with your eyes closed.  Try to focus on only one thing.  A simple image, like a ball of glowing light.  If your mind begins to wander, see where it is wandering to.  What pops into your head?  Ask yourself why your mind first thinks of this thing (or person or whatever), then gently guide it back to the ball of light.  The benefits of this type of meditation are twofold:  1) It gets you used to taking time out to sit still and relax and 2) it helps with visualization as well.

One of the hardest things to ask a person to do is to clear their mind and think of nothing.  Nothing has to be the most abstract thing in existance!  What is nothing?  lol  Instead, work on this meditation, trying to concentrate only on the ball of light.  Then, as you are able to hold the ball of light in your mind for at least 5 minutes without having your mind wander (this is our goal), start dimming the light.  By going slow and working with your mind, instead of against it, you will eventually be able to sit in quiet meditation, simply not thinking of anything.

Another way of doing this meditation, is to go outside.  Into nature.  Away from traffic and construction.  A place where the only sounds you hear are likely to be from nature, trees, water, animals.  When your mind starts to lose focus of the ball of light, try to guide it to sounds or smells or vibrations you feel around you.  This will also help you tune into the power of the Earth.

Petpet Avvies

With nothing else to report, I guess I'll fill ya in on how my progress on the petpet avvies is.  lol  In a little under two weeks I'll finally have the coveted Quadrapus avatar!  *whoot*  Once I get that I'll be sending the Darigan Peophin to the pound and adopting something else to work on the Huggy avatar for me.  (Already got the Huggy, just waiting for a free pet)  A little over a month and I'll have the Gruslen avatar.  ^_^  That one's cute.  Four months until the Mazzew avvie is mine, and a staggering 8 and 1/2 months until I get the Snowbunny one.  I think for completeness in the petpet avvie catagory, I'm going to go ahead and save up for the Meowclops.  That's a whole million np, but I've reached that before, it doesn't have to be aged and I'll get the np back so I can use it for another avvie.  lol

Days Go By

Yes, it is me again.  lol  Who else would it be?  O.o  Hrm.  I went to my interview.  Turns out by the end of it all they had interviewed 1500 people.  And now they're gonna call all of them back to let 'em know one way or another if they got a job or not.  Isn't that nice of 'em?  I'm not getting my hopes up.  lol  Still trucking along on neopets.  Waiting not-so patiently for the Altador Plot prizes to finally be given away.  Anyone know what's up with that?  Also been helping my hubby a lot on his Graphic Novel.  Keep yer peepers posted here, cuz we'll be setting up a preview clip soon.

Upcoming Interview

Oh boy, one of my least favorite things.  Been preparing myself for the past two weeks, so I'm about as ready as I'll ever be.  I haven't worked in five years, so I'm just as nervouse about getting the job as I am about not getting it.  All I can do is my best, and if it doesn't work out, it's not the end of the world.  If you're catching this before the 16th, please send me some positive energies.  ^_^  I could really use 'em.

Also, I finally got the Halloween PB, and the Werelupe avatar that I was aiming to get with it.  I got the Top Gamer avvie as well.  Not entirely sure what I'm saving up for at the moment, but I'll figure it out when I get there.  lol

Sunday, August 6, 2006

Ah.  The wonderful world of dream-work.  One of my specialties.  If you think you don't dream, think again.  Everyone dreams, just some more vividly than others, and some people don't remember their dreams.  The average person dreams 3 to 4 times a night.  The key is to train yourself to remember them.

The first, and most important, thing you will need is a notebook and pen.  I use a little 4"x6" notebook.  $2 at Wal*Mart.  You will need to keep these close at hand so you can write as soon as you wake up.  I keep mine just under the mattress by my pillow.  When you record your dreams, sometimes it helps to just write down everything you remember.  Chronological order isn't too important.  If you do write it as it happened, leave room in your mind to enable you to go back and add stuff.  Getting as many details as possible is more important than getting things in the right order.  At first (and sometimes thereafter) you may only remember a feeling, "I felt confused, like I was lost", or a place "I was at a wierd house I don't recognize", or a person, "I remember being followed by a wierd old lady".  This is okay.  The more you do it, and the more you become accustomed to remembering, the more details you'll get.

When the ball does get rolling, make sure to buy a new journal when you get near the end.  You don't want to wake up from a crazy dream just to realize you don't have any room to write it.

Whether or not you are the kind of person that remembers your dreams vividly, when you start recording them, it helps to prepare a little before going to bed.  Say to yourself as you're falling asleep "I will remember my dreams" a few times over.  As you become more adept and would like to go further you can add "I will become aware during my dream", this will help you to enter a lucid dreaming state.

Sometimes dreams can take a scary turn.  (like Nightmares, duh)  These are the best circumstances in which to learn what you can really do in dreams.  Just try to remember that it's all in your mind.  Over the past 20 years (I used to have some vicious nightmares as a child) I've gone from running like molasses and hitting with the force of a doped up butterfly to flying, generating fireballs to defend myself, running miles in seconds, breathing underwater, and hitting with enough force to break bones.  You CAN grow and adapt in dreams!  Your dreams are your minds playground.  Let loose and have fun.

The Longest Week

Hubby and I had some issue with communications, but thankfully we've worked everything out.  We're in a much better place now.  That is one of the many things that makes me so happy about being married to that wonderful man.  No matter what happens around us, no matter what's on our minds, we never stop talking to each other.  Words, when spoken, have no form of their own, but they have the power to change entire worlds.  Even a written word can have so much power that it acts as it's own symbol.  You see the word and it evokes motions, even without context.  Some words become overused and lose this power.  Such as:

This is not to say the word no longer has meaning, just that it has lost a lot of it's power.  Is there any way to regain this power?  Sure.  Through dis-use.  It is natural for us to want to vocalize our emotions, but for the vocalization to have any meaning or "power", we have to take care not to overuse the words we use to describe them.  Or to use the wrong words.  You may disagree with a person, dislike their actions, but do you hate them?  You may.  You may find yourself drawn to another person, but do you LOVE them?  Do you "love" Italian food, or do you find pleasure in the taste and texture of the combined ingredients?

While I'm on it, it is said that actions speak louder than words.  Certainly there is a good amount of truth to this.  I feel these are good words to live by, especially now when people will "say" anything, yet do very little.  Maybe if we said a little less, we could step back and really understand what our actions are saying about us louder than words ever could.

Spell Writing Therapy

Or, perhaps I should say spell writing as therapy.  We all come to times that are difficult for us to deal with.  Emotionally, physically, whatever.  When I feel a situation is pushing me to the edge, I write a spell to remedy it.  I don't always cast the spell (though in some cases I have been pushed that far), but the act of writing it helps me regain a sense of control.  I look at it and think "I could cast this and that would show 'em"  Then self-control comes into play cuz I have to ask myself if the repercussions would be worth it.  lol  Most times it's not.  Sometimes I'll rework it into a more positive light.  It also offers the advantage of looking at the situation from a different point of view.  What is the real problem here?  Who is really at fault?  Is there anything else I can do?

I've been looking a little into fasting.  Working towards my mind/body/spirit connection.  Here is a site with a lot of info on "Why" one should fast, medically speaking.  I was astonished at the information I found here.  At the bottom is a link that gives the safest way to start fasting.

Why Fasting?

Now I just have to pick myself up a juicer.

Finally 1/2 way to getting the Halloween Paint Brush!  ^_^  Also, 12 scores away from the Top Gamer avvie, and I now have 141 plushies in my gallery.  Yay.
