Born Pretty Store Stamping Plates m30 & MLS301

Hey, guys! As promised today I am reviewing two Born Pretty Store plates I have purchased. Starting with Stamping Plate m30 which I purchased a while ago.

As you can see the images on the plate are very crisp. I can only assume that the wonkiness I experienced is due to my scraper not going over the plate cleanly.

I did get a clean transfer for this cute little monkey, though!

The second plate was not etched quite so well. Stamping Plate MLS301. The images I bought it for are fine so I'm not terribly concerned. I may re-order this one at some point.

The first is these wicked clawed-out leopard print:

The other is the line of stars:

So cool. Most of the candies, one of the birds and even the lightning bolt are usable as well, but those two are my favorites. The full-nail ice cream and candy design is pretty messed up, but I don't know that I'd use that one much anyway.

Don't forget to take advantage of their up to 65% off sale! Free shipping on every order no matter how big or small (unless you want a tracking number). Can't beat that. Take care of yourselves and have a great weekend! (^_^)"/"

Decluttering Update #1

I was going to call this "February Empties", but decided that's not (nor will it be) entirely accurate. I use up a lot of stuff, but things like polish remover and deodorant are gonna get replaced. lol It's the nature of the beast! For me this is more just using up stuff that I've been hoarding (like perfume samples) or buy too much of for one reason or another (lotion) or buy, use once and never finish (cuticle oil).

So, starting with things I've actually used up. Not exactly impressive, but it's a start:

Cartier ~ Zeste De Soliel perfume sample. I quite liked this. It started off smelling kind of like lemonade and then faded into what I can only assume was some kind of citrusy flower?

Marc Jacobs ~ Honey. Anybody else hoard these single-use samples? Maybe it's just me... this one was really nice. Smelled like honeysuckle. ^_^

This. OMG. VO5 hot oil treatment. Can't find it anywhere. Had my mom pick it up from the PX. It's way more expensive than it used to be. Used to work a lot better, too. Though that's probably more to do with the condition of my hair than the product. Used up the last one finally and probably won't buy again. Not any time soon anyway. My hair felt really nice at first... then I went to sleep and brushed it out and it just wasn't the same.

Some of the things I'm making an effort to use regularly are this crappy face scrub I picked up from Dollar Tree, the Julep Mighty Nail & Cuticle Serum, the tarte Maracuja oil (I can re-use the bottle for some other oil I've got sitting around) and, of course, the masses of perfume samples I've compiled over the years. So much stuff.

Stay tuned for the Born Pretty Store stamping plates! With luck I'll be able to get that posted early as well.

KleanColor: Metallic Orange +Toes!

Yes, I said toes. lol If you have an aversion to feet... I'll warn you before they come up so you can scroll past them. First, however, we're starting with two coats of Metallic Orange and omg every single one of these metallic KleanColors (except Metallic White, of course) have just blown me away!

So vibrant! I love the metallic finish. Metallic Orange will definitely make another appearance come Fall.

Dry time was just a smidge quicker than average. Fair warning, after this pic in the shade is toes! XD

In the interest of "using things up", and since I hadn't done anything with my toes in a while, I decided to go ahead and see if these Kiss nail art sticker-strips would work on my tootsies.

Minus sizing issues (I had to really cut them down) these worked far better on my toenails than they did on my fingernails. Believe it or not this is after the third day of wear! Throw in socks, sleep and showers and I'm pretty impressed. Sadly, I didn't exactly use them all up. Still have seven left... I'll figure out something to do with them. Perhaps use a few as neon accents when I start doing my toes for summer.

Speaking of using things up: I do have a few things I've used up since I started! I think I'll probably post that separately tonight. Depends on whether or not I get sucked back into Minecraft. lol Tomorrow I'm going to go ahead and do a double post on the Born Pretty Store stamping plates. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Spoiler Alert: both. hehehe Hang in there, guys. Week's almost over! Take care and I'll see you tomorrow! (^_^)"/"

Finger Paints: Asylum

Hey, everyone! I'm so excited to be sharing Asylum with you guys. I never thought I'd see the day! ^_^ Wouldn't it figure, just my luck... it was overcast and cold all day! I did my best, though, and you'll see this again in a couple of days because I'm going to stamp over it.

I've got two coats of Asylum over two coats of Onyx Rush, topped with Julep's Freedom Polymer Topcoat... because I'm trying to use it up. lol

I think that topcoat gave me a bit of shrinkage. OMG, though!! So pretty!!! The main flakie colors are blue-purple and orange-red. Here's a close-up even though I was shivering:

From different angles you also get greens and yellows in there.

Yeah, I took a few pics in my car where it was warm. lol Just you wait, after I do some stamping I'm going to mattify it and it's going to be amazing!

So bright and vibrant and they don't turn the black base all milky and weird.

Tomorrow's supposed to be cold again so I'm going to go ahead and get that KleanColor Metallic Orange out of the way. Then Friday and possibly Saturday I should have some Born Pretty Store stamping plates to share with you. I'll get through all of this. Somehow. lol Y'all take care! (^_^)"/"

Orly Bonder Review +Nail Mail

Hi, everybody!! Are we ready? I hope you're comfy because this is going to be pretty pic-heavy. lol I'll try to keep everything cohesive; swagging my little butt off for Swagbucks' 6th birthday event. Anyway, as you've probably gathered by now, today I'm going over the results of my 2nd Orly Bonder test. First, the bottle. For dramatic effect. O_O

For this grueling test I decided to pit the Bonder against Zoya's Mod Mattes. Phoebe, Lolly and Mitzi. Some of the most chippingest (yeah, that's a word) pretties to ever grace my fingers.

Day 1: Doesn't really count as a day since I applied it so late that the sun was long gone. lol Still, this gives you a look at the mani as it was before time took its toll.

Day 2: *digs for my notes* This was Saturday. I assembled our new bbq grill and everything held up fairly well through that. Just some slight tipwear on my right hand.

See?

Day 3: Sunday. I had a particularly long, hot shower that day. The hotness took its toll, evidenced by the beginning of some minor chips.

Day 4: Monday. er... yesterday... What did we do yesterday? Oh yeah, the park. Nothing particularly taxing on the nails, but the shower damage progressed to the point where I just knew it was the end.

Aside from the chipping at the tips I started getting these weird polish buckles further in.

Well... It did last a good couple of days. I'm thinking maybe it wasn't formulated for mattes? Four days doesn't seem like a long time at all... For me it is, but then I have polish problems. lol What do you think? Worth $10/bottle? I do like that it dries really really fast so I can get to painting quicker, but... I don't think I'll be purchasing this again. At least I had a coupon!

Nail Mail!! OMG So I had completely forgotten that Karen had asked me for my address. So when I opened the mailbox today I was doubly surprised!

The original Finger Paints flakies!!! *dies* Thank you so much, Karen!! Now I can show you guys how freakin' awesome this set is! Also... It's kind of made me itch to get the rest of the 2nd set. Just for completeness sake. I know!! I'm so bad! XD We'll see what Friday brings.

I know what tomorrow's going to bring. The absolute, hands-down awesomeness that is Asylum. Also, because we just finished watching AHS: Asylum so it works out. lol Hope everyone's having a great week so far. Time for me to feed the cats (and the peoples) and then update my Stash Page! Take care and I'll see you tomorrow! (^_^)"/"

L'Oreal: Pop The Bubbles VS Julie G: Rock Candy & Liebster!

Hey, everybody! *falls over* I'm okay! We took Jet to the park earlier and my legs are still a bit rubbery. :p Hey! Looks like most people prefer monthly or random updates and I can live with that. I did finish one of my perfume samples, but I got the picture and wrote down some notes on it. If I can keep that up then I think I can make this work. Also, I think I'm done testing the Bonder basecoat. lol It is officially too chipped to wear. I'll probably squeeze that rundown in tomorrow.

For today we're taking a look at Pop The Bubbles! Another Norma-induced purchase. ;) This is two coats, fast dry time, look how pretty!!

I wish I had some better excuse, but all I can say is that I got caught up in the polish-buying frenzy. lol It wasn't until I got home that I thought, "Oh crap *facepalm* Rock Candy..." lol In the bottle they do look a bit different...

Here's where it's going to get a tad confusing and I'm sorry. Because, you see, in the bottle Rock Candy looks a little darker, but on the nails...

Rock Candy is on the left (my thumb) and... is it just me or does it look a tad lighter? o_O Maybe it's just me. You probably definitely don't need both.

Another Liebster! ^_^ This time I was nominated by the lovely Lothwen from Manis & Makeovers.

Since I just did all of the official stuff two weeks ago, and I only follow 10 blogs with less than 200 followers, I'll just do the questions. If you don't mind. ;)

1. What was your first-ever nail polish?
My first ever was a mini pink bottle that came with one of my My Little Ponies. It was formulated for kids so it peeled right off. My Pony and I had matching nails/hoofs for as long as the bottle lasted. lol

2. What is your favourite nail polish?
Ooooh, tough... I think I'm going to have to go ahead and say Mutagen. lol So many colors!

3. Glossy or matte finish?
Matte!

4. Jelly or texture?
Texture, hands down.

5. Indie or mainstream?
I'm going to have to say mainstream. I mean... that shit goes on clearance, yo. lol

6. Big circle glitter or holo finish?
ouch... lol uhm... Magic 8-ball says holo.

7. Neon in winter, yay or nay?
Yay! Absolutely! Winter is when you need neon the most!

8. Which nail polish has been on your wish list the longest?
Oooh... That would be Nubar 2010. I don't know that I still need it, but that was the first flakie I saw and it's still sitting on my wishlist waiting for the day I go crazy enough to spend $25 on a polish. LOL

9. Which nail polishes are on your wish list right now?
Check 'em out. lol I'd say that's about half of my total wishlist. Some brands aren't findable on amazon...

10. Which nail art technique did you recently pick up?
Hrm... I don't know if it counts as a "technique", but I've recently gotten really into the water decals. Thanks, Jasmine! lol

11. Which nail art technique would you like to master next?
I'd really like to master the dotting tools. I suck so bad and my dots never come out the same size. I'd like to get better at that.

Yay! That was fun. Now I better post this up before it's tomorrow. Y'all take care! Hope you had a great weekend. (^_^)"/"

Zoya: Verushka +Pre-Spring Cleaning

Hey, everybody! Welcome back. Today I'm finally finishing up the Zoya Matte Velvets! If you recall four of them were re-released back in November and I considered them my birthday present to myself. ^_^ Here it is almost three months later and I'm just now getting around to Verushka. Poor dear has been waiting for so long...

Well worth the wait! This is two coats, super smooth, fast dry time. Kind of a dark, subdued holly-ish color. I think it would pair very well with Chita. I'm so glad Zoya re-released these and I was able to get them. Sure it would have been more seasonally appropriate to wear them all back when I got them, but... I digress...

*swoons* Such a sucker for matte polish... hehehehe

Polish aside (WHAT?! o_O? Yeah...) Spring is fast approaching here in Texas and the winds of change come with it. You know that feeling you get where it's so nice that you have to do everything that you put off during the Winter hibernation? lol It's hitting me hard. It's time to look around, de-clutter, organize... all that good stuff. I'm sure most of you have heard of Project Pan? Where you make an effort to not buy stuff until you use up what you have. Well, polish is obviously not going to be on that particular list... but, I can certainly scale down other stuff. I have some mostly empty pressed powders and a ton of samples that I don't even know why I'm so determined to hang on to. It's not like I have kids I can bequeath all of this stuff to. "This was a popular fragrance back at the turn of the century. Don't waste it! This is all that's left..." No. That would be ridiculous even if I did have kids. Time to use this stuff up and get it away from me. Depending on what all I go through and how quickly, I may or may not do updates on that. Seems like the kind of thing I'd start slacking on if I take it too seriously... What do you guys think? How do you feel about progress updates? Do you really care what I think about products that you may not even be able to find? lol

The other thing is money. There's never enough and I'm not getting any younger. I've put in a few applications so far. Not "hardcore" job searching just yet. I need to make some progress on things at home first. Stable foundation and all that. Anyway, the good news is that while I do have an insanely long polish wishlist it is Spring and I have plenty of pastels. I don't really see there being a ton of polishes that I have to have. I know I've said it before, but barring a legit emergency I'm using my next cashout to open a savings account. I should have done so years ago. I'd really like a new computer (especially since I caved and pre-ordered Sims 4), but... there's plenty of time for "wants". If anybody has a recommendation for a really good, high-yield, secure savings account online I would love your input. Otherwise I'll just open one with my bank, which does have an online option and I can easily "feed" it with my checking account. From home. In my jammies. Without dealing with people. :p

So, what do you think? Updates or no updates? I can do weekly/monthly bulk updates or just random footnotes when things come up. Or nothing at all. I'm not sure which way is best for me, so your feedback is greatly appreciated here. Working on any interesting projects of your own? Anybody getting the March Julep box? So far it's looking like everybody who didn't pre-order (for the stupid plie wand funding) is saying "no". I'm one of them. Which is fine. I still have two Juleps I haven't worn yet. Still working on that Orly Bonder test. So far not too bad on that. Tomorrow is Pop The Bubbles so come on back for that. Enjoy the last bit of your weekend and take care of yourselves! (^_^)"/"

Born Pretty Store 11pcs Cute Water Decals

Hello, everyone! Finally posting up the end-product of Wednesday's nail art with a review of the Born Pretty Store Water Decals I used.

They're so happy they're dancing. When I saw these I knew I had to have them. They are so cute!! And you get so much for $3.33!

Yep, that whole thing. I cut them up into separate cards so I could get to the individual images more easily.

These work just like other water decals. Remove the protective film, moisten the back, remove the decal, place, dry, topcoat.

These decals are so adorable, and they come in a variety of expressions to suit your mood. I chose the happy ones to match the happy colored background. It's like a cute little party.

Again with these, the detail is amazing! I didn't have any trouble placing them where I wanted them, and didn't get any weird bubbles under the decals.

There's a chance you'll be seeing these fairly often around here. ^_^

That's not all! Born Pretty Store is also offering 10% off their nail art wheels!

Bloggers should also check out their blog post on how to get some free to review!

What do you think of the water decals? Cute, huh? Which ones are your favorite? Hope everyone is well and enjoying the weekend!! (^_^)"/" See you tomorrow.

Salon Perfect: Star Light, Star Bright +Nail Mail!

Good news, everybody! I managed to find some extra time today for pre-swatching so I'll be able to do the Orly Bonder vs Zoya Mod Mattes test kinda sorta on schedule. ^_^ Yay! Also, yes, the nail mail. I'll get to that after....

Two coats of Star Light, Star Bright which is supposed to be a dupe for China Glaze Dorothy Who?. If you click here I'd say that's accurate. Heavily pigmented blue jelly base packed full of teensy silver glitters. Very lovely... if a bit VNL-ey.

Still, it did dry so I guess I can't complain too much. lol

NAIL MAIL!! I can't believe my Sephora order got here already! The best part? I remembered to go through the Swagbucks Shop & Earn so as soon as it's approved I'll get 112SBs!

Let's see, at the top is Illamasqua Ouija, Omen and Seance and Nails Inc Swiss Cottage; plus a free sample of tarte Pure Maracuja Oil. Then I've got some free perfume samples of Cartier (Zeste de Soleil and Declaration d'un Soir) and Gucci Flora. And one of those magazine insert type samples of Marc Jacobs Honey. *teehee* I love perfume samples... except when they smell really good and I can't afford the actual product. *pouts*

For those of you who like to know what's coming (and so I don't forget) tomorrow I'll have the final version of Wednesday's nail art. Sunday is Verushka, Pop The Bubbles (with Rock Candy comparison) on Monday. KleanColor Metallic Orange on Wednesday. For Thursday I've got China Glaze Teal The Tide Turns and then Friday, finally, I'll have the results of the Bonder test. *phew* I'm not expecting it to last that long, but I'll be super impressed if it does.

So... yeah. I think that's it. I'm working on my post-test lineup so if there are any of my unworns (look for unlinked polishes here) you'd like to see, feel free to let me know! I'll give those pretties top priority. Y'all take care of yourselves and have a terrific weekend!! (^_^)"/"

Born Pretty Store Fantasy Holo Nail Foils Review

Hello lovelies! I've got another amazing product from Born Pretty Store to share with you today. I had a fair share of difficulties with this and I wasn't sure where to begin, so let's just jump in.

The Fantasy Holo Nail Foils* have the potential to look really awesome. You get a 30cm X 10cm sheet of this super pretty transfer foil.

30cm x 10cm is quite a lot of foil. Which is good because I went through a lot of trial & error. According to the video on the product page (and several tutorials) you can use normal topcoat to apply the foil. I found this extremely difficult as you have to perfectly time application when the topcoat is still tacky but not wet. This did work on a few nails, but applying topcoat over the foil killed the holo shimmer.

So then I tried finding "nail foil glue" and ended up with arts and crafts foil glue. It does work, remaining tacky when it dries. However, I found it difficult to get the glue smooth.

Despite the unevenness, the foil stuck to the glue much better than it did to the topcoat. I know it looks like a mess, but both the foil and the glue came off with 100% acetone.

The funniest part of this whole learning process was that the first finger I did turned out the best...

See how pretty that is when it works? The two biggest drawbacks being that you can't topcoat without killing the holo and without topcoat it didn't last through the night.

Overall I really like the Fantasy Holo Nail Foils in theory. If you can get the right kind of glue then it really does look amazing for the short time that it lasts, and it wouldn't be difficult at all. Simple as applying polish (except it's glue) and pressing the foil onto your nail. Perfect for a special occasion! I will be revisiting these as soon as I can find the proper adhesive. Don't forget to use my code EMX31 for 10% off!
